Personal Laminator Anyone?

So I've made the trek back to school to get some things ready for the fall (pictures soon to come!). As many teachers do, I of course wanted to laminate some things and I kept thinking to myself "Man, I would love to have one of these at home!". I don't know about you but I couldn't have a huge machine like that at home but I would love to have something to use that if I needed to laminate something for the next day of school, I could bust it out and ba-da-bing, ba-da-boom have it done. So I began my search for a personal laminator.

I looked around on the internet, trying to see what was the "best one" and shopped the local super stores as well. I settled on the Scotch Thermal Laminator. I figured "What's the worst that could happen?" and bought it on a whim.

The machine arrived today and I was a little too excited to bust this guy out and see what he could do. My machine also came with about 20 laminating pouches so I was able to experiment right away.

I pulled out my trusty Cricut (Gee - I forgot how much I LOOOOVE my Cricut until today) and test cut some letters just to see. The instructions were very easy to understand and I was laminating in no time! I must say that this lamination when it comes out is thicker than the lamination I am used to at my school. This would be excellent for items such as labels, tags, etc that you know you want to keep around and use over and over again.

This guy moved fast too! You literally slide in the pouch, seam side towards the machine and it takes off! In a matter of seconds my finished labels were sliding out of the machine :-)

I can't even tell you all the ideas that are streaming through my head for how I can use this machine throughout the school year. I have a feeling that this laminator will be my new best friend :-)

Does anyone else own a personal laminator?

  2. My fiance's mom bought one and decided she didn't want (she is kind of a shopaholic.) She asked me if I wanted it, and I was like YES! I used it that night! I love it!

  3. Too funny! I just was asking about this on my blog today :) Good to know you like this one so much. Did it stay all nice and together when you cut the tags out? Our laminator at school has the thin film, too, so the thicker film sounds so fancy :)

    Thanks!

    1. These tags were a first attempt and there are actually 2 settings on the machine, 3 mil and 5 mil. I think I put it on the 3 mil when it should have been on a 5 mil. But they turned out pretty well! I would suggest getting the Sam's pack of 200 laminator pouches too. They work amazingly as well :-) Let me know if you get one! I promise you won't regret it! Thanks for the comment :-)
